www.insidehalton.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Thursday, October 12, 2017 | 12 oakville.ca Public Information Meeting and Statutory Public Meeting Proposed Official Plan Amendment Speers Road Corridor Special Policy Area Town Initiated ­ Ward 1 & 2 File No. 42.23.007 The effect of the proposed amendment includes new policies which identify the Speers Road corridor as: a `Special Policy Area' having area-specific goals, objectives and policies to guide future development; an intensification corridor with policies to direct intensification opportunities; an employment area; an employment mixed use corridor providing a broadened range and mix of permitted uses for business and economic activities; and as an emerging Regional Transit Priority Corridor with associated transportation policies. The proposed policies also identify the Bronte GO Station as a major transit station area requiring further study. The proposed amendment will result in change to the following parts of the Livable Oakville Plan: Section 26 (Special Policy Areas); Section 27.1 (Exceptions ­ South West); Section 29.5 (Glossary); Schedule F (South West Land Use); and Schedule G (South East Land Use). The subject lands include the employment area generally bound by the railway tracks to the north, Kerr Street to the east, the residential community to the south, and Bronte Creek to the west. These lands are also subject to the following Site Plan applications: 1195701 Ontario Ltd., 529 Speers Road (File No. SP 1620.026/02) and Par-Med Property Services, 1060 Speers Road (File No. SP 1621.043/01). If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to Council c/o the Town Clerk at the Town of Oakville, Clerk's department, 1225 Trafalgar Road, Oakville, ON L6H 0H3 or at townclerk@oakville.ca before the proposed official plan amendment is adopted: a) the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision of the Town of Oakville Council to the Ontario Municipal Board; and b) the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Municipal Board unless, in the opinion of the board, there are reasonable grounds to add the person or public body as a party. Any submission to the Planning and Development Council, either in hard copy or in electronic format, must be forwarded to the Clerk's department for targets to accommodate growth to 2031, reduce overall congestion, and provide input into the town's upcoming Development Charge By-Law. The project is anticipated to be completed by December 2017. The TMP update is being completed consistent with the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study process. A key component of this process is two public consultation opportunities. Following the evaluation of various transit target scenarios and extensive consultation, the town has developed draft recommendations for the transit mode split targets and identified preliminary road network improvements for 2031.
