HFFT celebrated this year' s Partner Recognition Award winners on Sept. 24 at Andrews' Scenic Acres in Milton. More than 2,100 HFFT volunteers, including 930 students, provide nutritious food to elementary and secondary students via 200 student nutrition programs in 130 partner schools. Last year, 3.4 million healthy meals and snacks were funded, prepared and made available to Halton District School Board (HDSB) and Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB) students in what Halton Food For Thought calls "universally accessible, non stigmatizing school environments across the region, helping kids reach their potential." HFFT, incorporated as a registered charity in 2007, feeds more than 27,700 students a week during the school year. HFFT volunteers honoured for 2016 were: · Business Partner of the Year: IKEA · Individual Partner of the Year: Kristina Graham, longtime volunteer with the HFFT annual Spring Breakfast Gala Committee · Oakville Adult Volunteer(s) of the Year : Stefania Carone and Jean Robertson, volunteer co-ordinators for St. Andrew Catholic Oakville Adult Volunteer of the Year went to co-winners Stefania Carone and Jean Robertson, volunteers with the St. Andrew School Breakfast / Snack Program.
