Community group gears up for Save Glen Abbey Day Sept. 9 The community group, Save Glen Abbey, will take to the streets Saturday (Sept. 9) in order to spread its message. Between 10 a.m., and 1 p.m., volunteers with the group will fan out to 10 different locations across town where they will distribute signs, pins, flyers and cards calling for the preservation of the Glen Abbey Golf Course. This day of action will culminate in a rally outside the gates of the golf course at 12:30 p.m. Save Glen Abbey will also have a booth at the Oakville Lifestyle Fall Home Show at the Glen Abbey Community Centre, 1415 Third Line, Friday to Sunday. There has been considerable interest in the future of the property at 1333 Dorval Dr., ever since owner ClubLink announced plans to build 3,222 residential units, including nine nine-to-12 storey apartment buildings at the site. That plan appears to have hit a snag after Oakville council voted Aug. 21 to issue a notice of intention to designate the entire 229-acre site under the Ontario Heritage Act. ClubLink's development application will be further examined by council on Sept. 26. Many residents have voiced concern about the loss of the golf course and the level of traffic the proposed development would bring to the area. Save Glen Abbey's online petition to save the golf course has so far collected nearly 8,000 signatures. 11 | Friday September 8, 2017 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insidehalton.com Doctors recommend the kyBoot "kyBoots help you keep balance and activate your muscles, from your toes to your back: they are helpful in the treatment of pain in the heels and forefeet, and are a method of choice to support the treatment of pain in the Achilles tendon and back." - Dr. Markus Müller, specialist in orthopaedic surgery, foot surgery practitioner, Lucerne KyBoots will help you with.... · Back Pain · Improving circulation · Knee pain · Strengthening muscles · Foot conditions · Improving posture Oakvillians can walk for a cure this weekend The 27th annual Parkinson SuperWalk will be held in Oakville on Saturday, Sept. 9 at Oakville Place.
