The local police board is currently under taking a review of how sexual assault cases are handled by Halton police, including poli cies and procedures and the classification of sexual assault occurrences. The board says the goal of the review is to ensure victims of sexual assault are provided a timely and dignified response, the best sup port possible from the police service, and that the process is comprehensive, fair and respectful. Information provided by sexual assault sur vivors is considered crucial to the work of the review team and will help inform the findings. The review team intends to submit a sup plementary report to the Halton Regional Po lice Service Board by the end of fall 2017 that outlines survivor feedback. Sexual assault survivors will remain anony mous in the report. The report team will be asking survivors who reported the crime to Halton police to describe their reporting experience. Those who did not choose to report such incidents to Halton police will be asked why they made that choice. Individuals are invited to provide input to Julie Moscato, Executive Director of the Hal- ton Regional Police Services Board by July 31, 2017.
