Wednesday, December 29, 1999 THE OAKVILLE BEAVER C5 Unbeaten streak now at 10 games On W ednesday, Dec. 15th, the O akville Rangers midget AAA hockey team extended their unprecedented unbeaten streak to 10 games with a 5-1 win over visiting Stoney Creek at Oakville Arena. The first period ended in a scoreless tie with both teams looking strong but with Oakville hav ing had more scoring chances. But halfway through the second period, Brian Mills beat the Stoney Creek netminder on a feed from Ryan Gow and Shaun Dakin; 18 seconds later, Chris Riddell followed with a one-timer on a beautiful feed from Eric M elander from Mike Capaldo. And then another 15 seconds later, Jeff Curtis scored his first of two on another feed from Melander and Capaldo. His second came two minutes later from Dakin and Melander. Stoney Creek came out much more determined in the third with each team adding a goal. Oakville's was scored by Mills from Dakin and Melander. Dane Gilbert played very aggressively between the pipes. On Monday, Dec. 13th, the midgets travelled to Guelph where they beat their hosts 5-3. Shaun Dakin had a hat-trick scoring once in each period: the first from Jeff Brown and Ryan Gow; the sec ond from Bryan Mills; and the third from Brown and Ed Fiore. Chris Riddell scored in the second from Mills and Eric Melander and Gow scored in the third from Mike Capaldo. On Wednesday, Dec. 8th, the midgets hosted St. Catharines and came up with a 3-1 victory. Shaun Dakin again had three points -- an unas sisted goal in the second and assists on goals by Jeff Brown and Ryan Gow in the third, the last being a power play goal.
