Raza Hasan (garlic mustard), organizes heritage tree hunts, helped craft Oakville' s private tree protection bylaw and boulevard planting guidelines. As a member of the Oakville Horticultural Society, Kavassalis helped create the changes to the garden at the corner of Rebecca and Forsyth streets, creating a Garden for Life, a lowmaintenance shrubbery featuring native plants. She was also instrumental in putting forward the Fields of Spring, mass plantings of daffodils in public parks. Dr. Mohammed Viqar Khan As Oakville' s Ward 2 Regional and Town Councillor, Duddeck promotes inclusivity and celebrates diversity across all sectors of the community. She is also an active congregation member of St. Pauls United Church and volunteer Sunday school teacher and has volunteered with the Canadian Red Cross. Duddeck enjoys fostering puppies for the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides. Apart from her council duties, Duddeck currently serves on the committees for the Oakville Santa Over many years, Marsha has met hundreds of Oakville families through door-to-door campaigns for the Canadian Cancer Society and Terry Fox Run. Marsha has shepherded the Festival of Classics, Oakville' s Shakespeare in the Park experiences for the 10 years of its existence. Cameron' s Oakville heritage goes back through his grandfather, James Lundy Grant, to 1913 and the house he still calls home on First Street. He competed in the 1959 Pan Am Games and in Rome on the 1960 Canadian Olympic swim team. As treasurer of Oakville STROKERS, Cameron helps provide therapeutic exercise programs in conjunction with other recreational activities for stroke survivors. Together, Marsha and Cameron are wellknown supporters many local charities including Hasan provides mentorship to new immigrants and youth seeking employment or business opportunities and is heavily involved in fundraising initiatives for the Oakville Hospital Foundation. He is a member of the CD Howe Institute and Financial Services Research Initiative and has worked with the Canadian Bankers' Association on many policy initiatives impacting the Canadian economy and housing. Catherine Kavassalis Viqar Khan is involved in community outreach/ interfaith groups and is a in-charge physician at the Central West Specialized Developmental Services in Oakville for patients with autism. He also assists at PHABIS (Peel and Halton Acquired Brain Injury Services) clinic, teaches medical students from University of Toronto and is a member of various professional organizations.
