Capt. R. C. Coatsworth Decorated for Bravery

His devotion to duty and bravery following the launching of the recent big drive by the Germans, has won the Military Cross for Capt. R. C. Coatsworth, son of Dr. Coatsworth, 296 Parliament street, and a nephew of Judge Coatsworth.
At the time he won the cross he was with the South Midland Field Ambulance Corps, a unit which greatly distinguished itself in withstanding the onslaughts of the Germans. For ten days Capt. Coatsworth and his men manned the battle-lines and fought the Germans who were in superior numbers.

Temporary Captain Richard Collier Coatsworth, R.A.M.C.
During an enemy attack he early led his regimental stretcherbearers through very heavy shell fire to remove all wounded that could be found. He organized the removal of wounded, and by his perpetual cheerfulness and coolness set a fine example to his men, and effected the successful evacuation of many wounded.
