To help build knowledge and resiliency to extreme weather, the Town will host its third annual emergency and extreme weather pre paredness event designed to help residents build their personal resilience to our chang ing climate. This event will take place at Queen Elizabeth Community and Cultural Centre (Q EPC CC ) Saturday, May 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Exhibitors will be on hand to discuss programs and incentives available in Canada, Ontario and specifically Halton Region that can help people implement climate change mitigation and adaptation actions to help protect lives and properties. Lots of information and activities will be available for all age groups. The 2 0 1 7 keynote speaker will be Robinson, who will take the stage at 11 a.m. in the Black Box Theatre at the QEPCCC. Robinson has been storm-chasing since 2 0 0 0 with "on the ground" reports for The W eather N etw ork so while people can all experience the awesomeness of wild weather, he, as an experienced `chaser,' also knows the risks and puts safety first. fie was the first on the network to stream live videos of a tornado, avalanches and hurricanes. Robinson has intercepted 15 hurricanes and over 3 0 tornadoes across North America, fie jumps at the chance to go down to Tornado Alley during the height of tornado season, most recently reporting the devastation moments after a tornado touched down in Moore, Okla. Robinson was there for the most destructive hurricane in US history; Katrina. fie holds a Bachelors degree in Wildlife Biology from the University of Guelph and earned his Meteorology Certificate from York University. disaster preparedness and to offer the Personal Preparedness Workshop to discuss knowing risks, making a plan, making a kit and the importance of being prepared for a full 72 hours.
