A stainless steel prosthesis used in knee-replacement surgery, called a Kotz, was put in with extensions to attach it to the bones above and below the knee, by Dr. William Cole, head of orthopaedic surgery at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. This was to be followed by 20 weeks of maintenance chemotherapy after a recuperation period, "but she had an infection which set us back," said her mom. "She'll be finished her chemotherapy after Christmas." Then, she will be given intensive physiotherapy at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, and by her mom, to leam how to bend her knee. "She will have to learn how to walk again," said Robinson. "Adrienne once asked me if I ever thought one of my daughters would get cancer," said Robinson. "I told her you don't even think of things like that." The cancer has changed their lives for year, said Robinson. Rather than lose a year of school, Adrienne, a Grade 5 student, is receiving instruction at the hospital, and will also be home schooled by her mother. The mood at the Glen Abbey Recreation Centre, the startfinish of the run, was optimistic, as volunteers cheered and applauded participants as they returned to glasses of water, and pieces of oranges and bananas - all donated. Entertainment for the event was provided by the Ceilidh Fiddlers, Dream, Goggin School of Irish Dancing, Tim Duffy Disc Jockey Services, Mike Momingstar Taekwondo, and Dan Ferrone, master of ceremonies.
