On Thursday, April 13 (from 5:30-9 p.m.) and Saturday, April 15 (9:30 a.m.-6 p.m.), volunteers of the Oakville SuperWalk, held each September, will be selling tulips to raise funds. They will also remind people of this year' s SuperWalk taking place Sunday, Sept. 10. According to Parkinson Canada, more than 100,000 Canadians live with the disease that originates in the brain and affects movement, mood, speech, ability to smell, eating and drinking, sleep and cognitive abilities. Over time, it worsens and increases disability, and ultimately results in premature death. The Parkinson SuperWalk allows participants to raise funds and awareness on behalf of Canadians living with Parkinson' s. Since 1981, the SuperWalk has raised more than $35 million, which has been invested in communities across Canada to provide support services, education and advocacy for people affected by Parkinson' s, as well as for Parkinson' s research to improve treatments and finding a cure.
