The merger came into effect Monday, April 3 and the new name will be the United Way Halton and Hamilton. Kate Holmes, Milton' s United Way former CEO, now holds the title of director, resource development campaign and events. Holmes said the office in Milton on Chris Hadheld Way will be utilized, but will not have operating hours. The amalgamation, she added, offers synergies and efficiencies in all areas. "The amalgamation has been m uch anticipated by staff for the immense value that it will bring all the com munities," she said. "It offers synergies and efficiencies in all areas." "We look forward to collaborating with our partners in communities across the region to tackle the social issues that affect us all." He said it gives them the capacity to take on largescale issues through shared knowledge, staff and resources. As the organization evolves, United Way remains committed to ensuring that money raised in each community, stays in that community, he added.
