Motus O, Wideman team up for fair dance Stouffville-based dance troupe Motus O will perform a collaborative piece for the Markham Fair. The piece, which was written by performer Johnny Wideman and choreographed by Motus O is called From Hand to Plow and features a 15-minute performance that portrays the advent of farming from the stone age to the modern age. "It [the production] may seem short in length, but it is long in content," reads Motus O's press release for the event. Using dance and rhyme, the troupe will show how humans transitioned from early primitive agricultural methods to modern, technological improvements that allow massive crop production. fairs with its establishment in 1844. Motus O is a collaborative effort of James Croker, Cynthia Croker, Daniella Zapalla, Laura Day and Jack Langenhuizen. The troupe began in 1990 in Stouffville. They've toured across Canada, Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom, performing for over 25,000 people annually. 17 | Stouffville Sun-Tribune | Thursday, September 15, 2016 Motus O founding director now teaching at York Dance Academy One of the founding directors of Stouffville dance company Motus O will now share her dancing expertise with students at the York Dance Academy. Cynthia Croker will start teaching at the Stouffville branch of the York Dance Academy this month. The academy has three branches in Newmarket, Aurora and Stouffville. Croker and her husband James, along with their friend Jack Langenhuizen moved to York Region in 1990 and founded the Motus O Dance Theatre. Since then the group has performed across Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom, with several shows in between at the Lebovic Centre for Arts & Entertainment (19 on the Park).
