Passed away peacefully at MacKenzie Health Centre, Richmond Hill, on Sunday September 13th, in her 95th year. Predeceased by her husband Willis Taylor and an infant son Willis Jr.; her brother Cecil Fletcher (Dorothy), Cochrane; her sister Gladys Halligan (Red), Thornhill; and her adoptive parents Fred and Mary Mortson, Beaverton. Survived by her brother Lorne (Bernice) Mortson, Beaverton; and remaining sister-in-laws and brotherin-laws. Much loved and proud Mother of four sons, Wayne (Anne) of Cambridge, Walter (Penny) of Uxbridge, Sandy (Sue) of Peterborough, and Dale (Andrea) of Bethany. A very special Grandma/Granny to 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and aunt to many nieces and nephews. Blanche was born April 2nd, 1921, in Perth Andover, New Brunswick, the third child of Herbert Cecil Fletcher and Blanche Ethel Gidley. Her mother passed away three days following her birth. The family then moved to Cochrane, Ontario, to join relatives a year later. At three years of age, she was adopted and later moved with her new family to Stouffville. Growing up on a farm she enjoyed the outdoors and farm life. Later, she and her husband Willis farmed near Bloomington for a few years, and then moved to Brougham for a year. The family then moved to Goodwood in 1952 where they operated Taylor's General Store for many years. After the store closed, Blanche remained in Goodwood and continued to be active in church life. She was blessed with many, many, friends whom she treasured and loved, always enjoying their companionship and serving a cup of tea when they visited. She was the recipient of many awards for her gardens and community involvement. And no matter how busy she was, found time to bake a pie or cake for a community event. She always had an open door, and welcomed many into her home. She loved it best when surrounded by family and friends, all of whom were so important in helping her in later years. Her family is most appreciative of the special and caring staff of the Willows Estate Nursing Home, Aurora, where she lived the past 5 years. While she will be dearly missed, her lasting legacy for everyone will be memories of her hard work, sense of community, love of life, and the love and joy she gave to and received from family and friends.
