An Opening Tea Party will be held on Sun day, Feb. 19 from 2 to 5 p.m ., with presenta tions from Oakville Mayor Rob Burton and Councillor Tom Adam s at 3 p.m . Art from the H eart is an uplifting exhibi tion by special needs artists who wish to share their gifts and inspirations. Joy o u s co lour sings throughout the gallery, Ailing it with the resonance o f creativity that com es straight from the heart. This show focuses on different ways of see ing and experiencing the world, reflected in artwork. It is about sharing, awareness, artis tic expression and courage. Every Monday, six inspired artists from Com m unity Living Oakville arrive at Jo sh u a Creek Heritage Art Centre and within two hours they have produced their personal m asterpieces with laughter and joy. This exhibition also features acrylic paint ings from the artists o f Creative Village Stu dio in Toronto, and the w orks o f Tsochoy Go, artist in residence at Jo sh u a Creek. On March 4, the orchestra will be perform ing from 7-9 p.m . at St. Jo h n 's United Church, 262 Randal St. On March 5, the orchestra will be perform ing from 7-9 p.m . at St. Sim on's Anglican Church, 1450 Litchheld Rd. Performances will be by distin guished Oakville-born and raised artists: Stephen Sitarski, Tessa Laengert and Ashleigh Semkiw. Stephen Sitarski will play M ozart's Violin Concerto #4, an irregularlyperform ed concerto recognized for its solo part and its subtle m elodies. The concert will also feature fabu lous sopranos Tessa Laengert and Ashleigh Semkiw; they will sing favourite arias and songs from De libes, Gershwin, Porter, Puccini and J. Strauss Jr. In addition, the orchestra will perform a rediscovered w ork by Oakville's polymath, Amice Calverley, and the w orld premiere o f a com position by the Oakville Chamber Orchestra's m usic director, Charles Demuynck. Tickets for a single concert are $30 for general adm ission, $25 for seniors, $20 for students, and children under 12 are free.
