Friday, October 13, 2000 THE OAKVILLE BEAVER 37 Enjoy art auction for dogguides Children's book launched The Lions Foundation o f Canada Dog Guides invites the public to join it for an evening of art, wine, and a chance to win some door prizes. The A rt Auction fo r Dog Guides is being held at 7 p.m. on Thursday Oct. 26 in O tello's. This gala fund-raising event is in support o f the dog guide programs and 100% of the proceeds will help provide dog guides at no cost to Canadians with disabilities. Fifty paintings, donated by Dr. M ichael Ostro of Toronto, will be on view during a cocktail reception before they are offered for sale. With appraised values ranging from $250 to $1,000, the works o f art at this auction will include quality limited edi tion reproductions o f works by well-known artists suck as Chagall, Dali, Vibha, M iro and Toronto artist Caroline Schultz. Since its creation in 1983, Lions Foundation of Canada has enriched the lives o f many men, women and children by providing the services of a specially trained dog guide. The school is the only one o f its kind in North America with three distinct programs. Canine Vision Canada pro vides dogs to people who are blind or visually impaired. Hearing Ear Dogs of Canada provides Dog Guides to peo ple who are d eaf or hard o f hearing. The Special Skills Dogs help provide mobility, safety and independence to Canadians with other physical disabilities such as epilepsy or muscular dystrophy. All programs are offered at no charge to clients and are funded by individuals, Lions Clubs, corporations and foun dations.
