Demolition Strategy Open House Town Hall, Oakville and Trafalgar rooms 1225 Trafalgar Road 6-8 p.m. The demolition of the former hospital (OTMH) site is scheduled to begin this summer 2017 and take approximately 12 months to complete. The town is committed to safely deconstructing the former hospital and Helen Lawson buildings and has a comprehensive Demolition Strategy to guide the process. Attend our open house to find out more about the strategy including: · performance guidelines · abatement and demolition activities · mitigations to minimize dust, noise and traffic The overall demolition approach will be completed using standard mechanical demolition which involves mechanized equipment, articulated lifts and cranes. The Tale of a Town of Oakville exhibit shares perspectives on the story of our community over the years, and features active listening stations, a digital display, and a recording booth to continue to capture new stories. The Tale of a Town - Canada theatre and media project was developed in collaboration with the National Arts Centre of Canada. In June 2016, the project's Storymobile (a.k.a. recording booth on wheels) gathered over 100 stories from Oakville's local heroes, community stakeholders, neighbourhood residents and independent business owners. As the final stage of the project, The Tale of a Town of Oakville will also present a stage performance piece at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts in September 2017. Both project outcomes are being created in collaboration with local artists and in partnership with local organizations. These initiatives are part of a national venture that celebrates our country's main street culture, in commemoration of Canada's 150th anniversary this year. For more information visit oakville.ca.
