D ow ntow n Construction U pdate D e t o u r ro u te Re becca St R a n d a ii St L akesh o re Road B rid g e C losure February 3 to December 2 0 1 7 As part of the Lakeshore Road Reconstruction and Streetscape Project, the tow n is reconstructing the Lakeshore Road Bridge over Sixteen Mile Creek. From February 3 to December 2017, the bridge w ill be closed to motorists, cyclists and pedestrians in both directions. A detour route around the bridge w ill be provided via Kerr Street, Rebecca Street and Navy Street. Navy Street between Rebecca/Randall Street was converted to two-way on January 5, 2017. New pedestrian railings and lookouts w ill be included as well as LED lighting. Hydro line tree pruning in south-central Oakville Tree pruning near hydro lines continues in neighbourhoods of south-central Oakville (Zone 2). The town's professional contractor w ill prune trees on behalf of Oakville Hydro to ensure safe clearance around hydro lines and to minimize safety hazards and power outages. Trees are pruned to the Electrical Safety Authority's (ESA) industry standard of providing a minimum three-metre (10-foot) clearance. In rare instances, trees growing too close to hydro lines may require removal when the clearance standard cannot be achieved using acceptable pruning practices. In some situations, the town must prune privately owned trees if they are growing too close to hydro lines. In cases where hydro lines are located in rear yards, Oakville Hydro has an easement through the property which allows the arborist to access the tree.
