7 Mayor issues statement on terrorist attack in Quebec City Oakville Mayor Rob Burton, on behalf of town council and the Town of Oakville, is sued a statement Monday (Jan. 30) on the terrorist attack in Quebec City Sunday. "It is w ith utter shock and disgust that w e were informed of the repulsive act of ter rorism targeting Muslims in Quebec City on Sunday. On behalf of the entire Town of Oakville, w e offer our condolences and prayers to all concerned in this tragedy," Bur ton stated in a media release. He noted town council has been informed of Halton police' s increased presence, patrols and visibility near local places of worship, as a result of the attack, and have reached out to members of the Halton Muslim community to offer its continued support and partner ship. "Council w ould like to thank the HRPS for its quick and proactive response and reaffirm its com m itment to the safety of all Oakville residents," said Burton.
