Loyola students share the Power of Art A rt students at St. Igna tius of Loyola Second ary School have learned that art is not just visual candy: art can be used for a positive and signihcant purpose. Probably the best example of this is the Loyola art calendar. Every year since 2008, Loyola' s Art Department creates an art calendar for a great cause. All proceeds of this calendar go to the Fare Share Food Bank in Oakville, a non-proht orga nization working to provide food for those in need in the community. This past year alone, Loyola' s calendar raised $1,996.40 for the food bank. A lot of work goes into pro ducing and selling the calen dars. The pages in the calendar are made entirely of student artwork, ranging from striking portraits to vibrant mandalas and intriguing fantasy scenes. Students sell the calendars at parent interviews, after masses at St. Matthew' s Parish, and to families and friends. The time and effort put into these calendars does make a difference for Fare Share.
