For 26 years they have resided in this vil- lage. and have seen its growth and changes in every way. They have ever been identiï¬ed with any and every object connected with the educational. social or religious movements in this place. Dr. Vrooman ï¬rst started the practice of medicine here. and has singularly held his own without opposition all this time. Being very successful in his profession. he has beneath him a good ï¬nancial basis. Few men have commanded the general admiration and respect always accorded to him. From the oldest man to the very youngest toddler, all admire and love Dr. Vrooman. He is especially the children's triend, and in this he was peculiarly ï¬tted for his position as Sunday school superin- tendent. This ofï¬ce he has held for 6 years, and under his able in meat the school has made unpreceden Progress. He also acted as recording steward of the quarterly board of the Methodist church tor the same length of time, and this duty i he has discharged with exceptional ability. In public life and conï¬dence he has also risen. being the choice of his party in the Dominion election. On every hand this man was loved by rich and poor alike. for he was no respector of persons. On Tues- day evening the Methodist church was ï¬lled by a large audience, who came out to show their high a greciatiou of his work amongst them. e lodge of A. 0. U. W. (cf which the Dr. was a member) was present in a body. bedecked with regalie. Mr. Thee. Honey, M.W. or Brit- ain lodge, was in the chair, and called the meeting to order at 8.30. A very ï¬ne ‘ program was rendered, comprising a duett 1b! the Misses Maunder, recitations by . Miss I E. Stratton and Miss Lutï¬ Thump son, solos b Mrs. Carnovskymt ingston. and Mr. Swain. of Janetviue. The 1 Sunday school presented the Dr. with a ‘ lovely onyx stone clock and an appropriate address. The Workman also presented an address, accompanied b a gold-headed cane. Dr. V. replied at ength. and very feelingly referred to his past life here and his coming removal to Lindsay. He keen- ly appreciated the conï¬dence, trust and aï¬â€˜ection bestowed upon him by his man; friends, and vowed ever to remember an cherish past and present reminiscences. Revs. F. B. Sutton and A. R. Delve, Messrs. John Dix and Frederick Shaver, and Dr. Hail, made suitable replies. Everything went 011’ most pleasantly. We join the community in our deep regrets in losing one of the truest and noblest men any county can produce; but Lindsay will gain a magniï¬cent citizen, who will honor his home and his ession. We trust his future life at L udsay will be one of highest success in every part o£_ his career. | Witâ€"Hib;ï¬Ã©â€"iérroi, '33 for a. lost friend, we bid a reluctant adieu to our noble Dr., hie wife and tangy. _ ANNWHSABLâ€"The anniversary of the Methodist Sebbsth school will be held on Sunday and Monday 27th and 28:1: inst. 0:1 Sabbath R ;v.
