One of Clinton township's best known citizens died on Saturday afternoon in the person of George Bush, former county jailer. Deceased seemed to be in his usual good health on Saturday, remarking to a neighbor that he never felt better. Around 4 o'clock he suddenly expired, dying from apoplexy in a very short time. He was born on the farm where he died 73 years ago and all his life he was active in the affairs of the county in all branches of political and municipal activity. He served on the municipal council as both councillor and reeve, was president and secretary of the Clinton Agricultural Society. In religion he was a member of the Baptist church. Some 23 years ago he received the appointment of county jailer at St. Catharines, retiring on a pension to his old home in May, 1923. His widow and two sons survive. The funeral was held on Tuesday, Dec. 9, interment being in Mount Osborne cemetery, Beamsville.
