On May 5th at Cape Spear - the most easterly point of North America - the Atlantic waters joined the relay. The waters will be united on Sept. 9th in Jacques Cartier Park in Hull, Quebec in a live, two-hour broad cast on Global Television. "It's great. I think the trail's a super idea," said McCall. So does Olympic gold paddler Larry Cain, who told the crowd that after years of travelling around the globe competing, there really is nowhere quite like home. "There's no place on earth like Canada," said Cain. "We have a land scape unmatched by any country in the world." Relay 2000 representative Randy Mullin told the children in the audience that when they study Canadian history in the future, they can be proud o f the fact they were part of Wednesday's event and the relay in general. "You know what we're doing here today?" M ullin asked the crowd. "Making history." Three special books have also been accompanying the water across Canada and Mullin gave mayor Ann Mulvale the Pacific Book of Communities for her to sign. She in turn gave Mullin an Oakville flag that will be flown during the September ceremony in Hull. During W ednesday's event at Coronation there was also a portable rock climbing apparatus, storytelling, face painting, removable relay tattoos, a fun run, a hike along the Waterfront Trail, a barbecue, prizes and more.
