Turley, 51, a respected member of Oakville's medical and social community, died last year following a battle with cancer. The June 8th event will feature dinner plus silent and live auc tions. S P E C IA L TO T H E BEAVER It wasn't a swan-song afterall. Local residents got their wish, Wednesday m orning, when the Canadian Wildlife Service returned a male Mute Swan to the pond at Riverview Park, north of Lakeshore Road. Director o f Parks and Recreation Bob Perkins was on hand when the swan was released into the pond. It was Perkins who had originally requested that the bird be removed after several com plaints about its aggressive behaviour. According to regular onlookers, the male swan has been accepted by his female mate and has been repairing their nest since his return. "We're very happy to have our swan back," said John Christiansen, who enjoys watching the swan from his apartment window. "W e're pleased the town acted quickly to get the bird returned."
