The OMHA made the an nouncem ent last week. Taylor will take on the job immediately. Taylor will oversee 2 2 8 local minor hockey associations and members from across the OMHA while managing the day-to-day of fice operations. He will be responsible for the administration and management of all aspects of the OMHA opera tions and will ensure the organiza tion' s financial, administrative and long-term success. Taylor will work with OMHA president Rob Ring and the board of directors with a goal to deliver a best-in-class hockey experience, including development programs, events and marketing, member ship services, operations and com munications. Taylor was promoted after 14 years as director of development programs, overseeing the OMHA' s coach, referee and trainer certifi cation programs along with the Long Term Player Development plan and Program of Excellence. He has more than 25 years of instructional and coaching expe rience and has sat on the Hockey Canada Athlete Development Council, National C oach Mentor ship Program Advisory Com m it tee and attended the Hockey Canada/Finnish Ice Hockey Academy Leadership Exchange Program. "It's a great h onou r to take on this new role with the Ontario M inor H ockey A ssociation ," Taylor said. " I am really look ing forward to w orking with our board and m em ber associations to provide ongoing opportuni ties for our players, grow our game and be a leader in com m u nity sp o rt." Taylor will be taking over the position from Richard Ropchan, who announced his retirement earlier in December. OAK swimmers excel despite busy schedule The Oakville Aquatic Club has been competing in a wide range of meets across Ontario and Quebec recently. Records were broken at the 13th FINA Short Course World Cham pionships held in Windsor, attend ed by more than 1,000 swimmers from 170 countries. M ack Darragh broke three club records in the m en' s 17-over 50, 100 and 200-m etre butterfly events while Evan W hite set the club mark in the 200m individual medley. Darragh's time of one minutes and 5 5 .4 5 seconds in the 2 0 0m fly was also an Ontario open re cord. At the Camo Invitation Provinciale in Montreal, Callum MacPherson broke two OAK shortcourse records in the 50- and 100-m etre free in the boys' 13 -1 4 category. He also won $ 2 5 0 for highest points overall at the meet.
