Predeceased by his Estonian parents, Marie (Silde) and William (WWI Veteran of whom he was extremely proud). He is survived by Bernice, his wife of 62 years, his children, Darrell, Peggy and Judy. Grandfather of, Warren, Brett, Jaclyn, Patrick, Clare, Georgia and Taylor. Remembered by his siblings, IImar and Sylvia. Born in Timmins in 1928, "Bill", "W ill" or "Willie", as he was variously known, was raised on a farm in St. Catharines, and attended the St. Catharines Collegiate. He graduated from Niagara University in New York State, with a B.S in Economics and began his career with Ford Canada in Oakville. He later held various senior management positions in the field of industrial/human relations. In his early years, he was very active in athletics, including football with the Collegiate, and the Niagara Falls Dynamos, in particularly an oarsman and sculler with the St. Catharines Rowing Club. Where he won many Canadian/North American Championships in singles, doubles, fours and eights. He was a former RCAF Reserve Pilot Officer and member of the RCAF Association. Also a member of the 10th Battery Reserve Association. As well, a lifetime member of the Dalhousie Yacht Club, and a charter member of the Niagara Military Museum. He enjoyed golfing, photography, cottaging, all types of boating and fishing, which included exotic fishing trips with his son, and grandchildren in the N.W.T., the Yukon, Alaska and B.C. In keeping with Bill's wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted with Passfield Mortuary Services (905) 682-0474. A celebration of Bill's life will take place at a later date. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by family. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone, for part of us went with you, the day God called you home. Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, our chain will link again. It has been 10 years since you left us. We miss you more than words could say and not a day goes by that we don't think of you. We love you so much.
