"I was sad to see David go. He' s been a very good colleague. He and I shared a lot of opinions, I think. He was a person who served his community well." Flynn said he is "very pleased" to take on the new Cabinet role because he has much respect for first responders and those who work at correctional facilities. "I think the world of them. I think it takes a very special person to step forward to become a police officer, firefighter, to work in our jails or a paramedic," said Flynn. "I' ve got an excellent relationship with the first responders. There is a level of respect there already I think it is mutual." He added, "It is an honour and privilege to work alongside these men and women." The issues Flynn will be tackling as the Community Safety and Correctional Services Minister are something he takes great interest in, he said, noting it is currently reviewing how policing is done. "I'm a firm believer you need to involve police in those discussions," the Oakville MPP said.
