Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital recognized for innovation, excellence The Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships (CCPPP) recently recognized the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) for the 2016 National Awards for Innovation and Excellence in Public-Private Partnerships (P3s). OTMH, which was a Gold Award recipient in the Infrastructure category, replaced the legacy hospital of the same name and now has the capacity for 457 inpatient beds and additional space to accommodate up to 602 beds in the future. "We are extremely proud of the new Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital and honoured by this award," said Bill Bailey, vice-president of Redevelopment at Halton Healthcare, which oversees OTMH. "It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of all those who were involved. The partnership that came together to build the new OTMH has set a new standard for hospital construction and design in Canada, combining innovative architecture and the latest in technology to deliver high quality Health 43 | Thursday, November 24, 2016 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com "Connected to your Community" patient and family-centred care." The total project cost was $2 billion with an estimated cost savings of $383.1 million, stated a media release. "The partnership set a new standard for hospital construction and design in Canada, combining innovative architecture and the latest technology to deliver high-quality, efficient, patient- and family-centered healthcare," the release continued. The awards panel took note of how the new hospital is expected to act as a "core economic stimulant and centre for medical excellence as an `anchored tenant' for the developing north Oakville region." Panellists said they were particularly impressed with the design and technology innovations of the new hospital, and the community input that contributed to the success of the project. The CCPPP National Awards were presented Nov. 14 at the 24th annual CCPPP National Conference at the Sheraton Centre Hotel in downtown Toronto.
