charger s r u l e Blakelock's Adams a GHAC runner-up continued from p. 40 "I managed to keep a 10-metre distance and tried closing in at the end," she said. "I sprinted, but so did she and I couldn't catch her." Guga has been running cross-country since Grade 1, but joined the Mississauga Olympians running club prior to starting high school. "It's helped a lot with my speed work," she said. Matching Guga's top individual finish was T.A. Blakelock's Declan Adams, who was second in the junior boys' race. Adams, who was fifth at last year's GHAC championship, completed the 6-km course in 21:58, finishing behind defending champion Brandon Ponomarew of Georgetown's Christ the King. Oakville runners claimed four of the five individual OFSAA qualifying spots. In addition to Adams, White Oaks' Ryan Bevington was third in 22:35, King's Christian's Aiden Britnell placed fourth and Oakville Trafalgar's Soren Zamuner was fifth.
