Input being accepted until Dec. 1 continued from p.6 ing our freedoms, privacy and values. I was selected to travel with the committee to hold unprecedented public consultations in five Canadian cities on Canada's national security framework. Committee members from all parties heard from experts in each city, testifying on issues like oversight and the importance of balancing rights and freedoms with Canadian security. Members of the public were invited to open mic sessions each evening in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal and Halifax. The sessions focused mostly on the former Bill C-51, with citizens expressing concerns around changes made in the Anti-Terrorism Act 2015 and the Secure Air Travel Act, more commonly known as the `No Fly List.' Other topics that were discussed included national security, cyber security, threat prevention and public safety and counter-terrorism laws and policies. I was pleased to see residents of Oakville and Burlington attend the Toronto meeting and offer their input and insights to the committee. Our work will continue with meetings in Ottawa. In addition to the committee's work, the Honourable Ralph Goodale, minister of public safety, is conducting consultations on the issue. Minister Goodale has released a Green Paper called Our Security, Our Rights to prompt discussion and debate about Canada's national security framework, counter-terrorism laws and policies. We want to carefully consider the results of the consultations as we work to make meaningful improvements to Canada's national security laws and procedures. To read a copy of the Green Paper, visit www. publicsafety.gc.ca. You can respond to the consultation questions online until Dec. 1 at www.
