June 27, 1957 TOWARF Rehearsal Proves Real Search p.m. and spent nearly two hours searching the area before receiving word over walkie-talkies that the crew had reached home safely. Skippered by B ill McLean, TOW AR F assistant searchmaster, was the " B.J." and the TOW ARF pa trol boat under searchmaster Rudy Back, searched from Oakville to Port Credit. The Port Credit Res cue Unit searched east as far as Toronto, and the Toronto Harbor Police searched west to Port Credit. Another TO W AR F vessel, skip pered by George Green, covered the area from Bronte to Oakville. The midnight search was the culmination o f a day o f activity for TOW ARF, which turned out seven assorted vessels Sunday morning, after two five-gallon cans had been carefully placed, partlysubmerged, out in the lake. The cans, dropped three miles out from Bronte, before the alert was given, were recovered two hours and fou r minutes from the time the alarm went out. The most ambitious w ill b e a daily report on aurora observations between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. daily. These reports w ill b e m ade fo r an 18-months period and w ill be forw arded to Ottawa fo r co-relation with observations from other centres. M eteor observation w ill also be made. And, when the U.S. space satellite is in position early in 1958, the society w ill take part in w orld w ide " Operation Moonwatch," to plot the satellite's posi tion each night.
