That's why the Oakville-based non-profit organization brings environmental film screenings to the regional community every month. "HGS is committed to bringing the newest, most gripping environmental documentaries to communities in Halton," said organizers. "HGS hosts monthly screenings in Oakville in partnership with Film.Ca and is pleased to announce the lineup for this fall series." This month's screening, aligning with Waste Reduction Week (Oct. 17-23), is Greenvaders and takes place tonight (Thursday). The documentary shows the battle of Ottawa citizens who have fought against the expansion of landfills. Special guest will be Oakville's Heather Govender, who took the #HaltonWasteChallenge to new heights by living as close to waste-free for an entire year -- all the while, being pregnant. Govender wraps up her challenge at the screening and will be doing a public weighin of the garbage and waste she's accumulated over the past year. The junior choir is meant for participants aged seven to 13 years and headed by St. Jude's music director Simon Walker.
