Firefighters were called to the area at around 11 p.m. Deputy Fire Chief George Birtig said crews found a tractor-trailer with a punctured fuel tank and a large pool of diesel in the parking lot. "The truck turned into an area it should not have and struck a rock that was meant to keep people from driving in," said Birtig. "The fuel leaked from a hole in the gas tank with about 200 litres of fuel spilled." Fire crews stopped the fuel from flowing into nearby storm drains and applied absorbent materials. They also patched the truck's fuel tank, which was capable of holding 400 litres of fuel. Birtig said the Ministry of the Environment was notified due to the size of the spill. Birtig said the fire department contacted the driver's employer as responsibility to clean up the spill falls to the employer. Representatives from the trucking company attended the scene around 3:30 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 13) and carried out this cleaning work. The name of the trucking company has not been released. It is unclear if any charges have been laid at this time. 50 AyA Kitchens of oAKville 1195 north service roAd west % OFF CRYSTAL SHEER, ROLLER SHADES, SCREEN WEAVE, ROMAN SHADES, PANEL TRACK Offer Extended to October 31, 2016 All above products Made in Canada.
