W., Oakville, ON Red scarves knitted by members of Munn's United Church's Knitting Circle have been crafted to support the Bronte Grandmothers for Africa's Red Scarf Campaign. Donations for each scarf supports the Stephen Lewis Foundation (SLF), which works with grassroots organizations in sub-Sahara Africa to turn the tide of HIV/AIDS through support of grandmothers raising their grandchildren orphaned by the pandemic. The scarves themselves will be given to the Grandmas love red scarves AIDS Network of Hamilton/Halton for distribution to people living with AIDS and their families. Each scarf will have a tag noting who created the scarf and who donated it. The scarves will be on display at Munn's United Church Bazaar at Sixth Line and Dundas Street this Saturday (Oct. 15) from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. For more information about the Red Scarf Campaign, visit grandmotherscampaign.org. The event will take place at Glenashton Park, outside the Iroquois Ridge Recreation Centre. Admission is free and the fair runs from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The attractions include a bouncy castle, music, face painting and other carnival games and family-friendly activities. Food trucks including Road Grill's grilled meats and Arepa Republic, the first Venezuelan food truck, will be present.
