www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Friday, September 30, 2016 | 24 OCO concerto winners share a deep love of music In the Arts... continued from p.23 "The reason I love music is every music piece has its own imagination," she said. "When they combine together, they create a massive world, which is fabulous." Violinist Leslie Ashworth, 19, began playing the violin at age four -- she has been playing for 15 years and is also adept at the piano and viola. For the OCO concert, Leslie played on a 1696 Albani Violin, loaned to her by a private benefactor. She is in her second year of Bachelor of Music Performance at the Glenn Gould School; of which she secured a full scholarship for. "One of my most favourite aspects about classical music is that it is a universal language.... It can connect people from all ages and backgrounds," said Leslie, who is the founder of Suite Melody Care, a volunteer program where youth musicians visit Ontario hospitals, long-term facilities and retirement residences.
