Oakville's Young is ready for title bout in Mississauga on Saturday A Canadian superwelterweight title fight involving Oakville's Ryan Young has been dubbed the Battle of Ontario. Young, 9-0 with seven knockouts, will be facing Ryan Wagner of Orangeville on Saturday, Sept. 24 in a scheduled 10-round bout at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga. Young has slugged his way through a number of international opponents of late, becoming one of the fastest rising prospects in the 154-pound division. At the same time Wagner has entered a new stage of his career, fighting all comers to reestablish himself as a leading Canadian contender. In 2015, Young showed he had endurance as well as fight-ending power by winning unanimous decisions over Nestor Faccio (15-7-2, 9 KOs) and Bruno Leonard Romay (16-4-0, 14 KOs). Young faces a crowd favourite in "The Nightmare" Wagner, who is 6-3 with three knockouts. Hungary's Krisztian Santa (12-72) could vouch for Young's abilities. He was dispatched by Young on a TKO in August 2015. "I'm excited to be back in the ring," says Young. "I think with the announcement of Wagner as my opponent more people are going to come watch the fight and support this card." Last year, in his biggest win to date, "the Nightmare" edged reigning Canadian welterweight champion Stuart McLellan (15-2-3, 5 KOs) via split decision. Wagner is confident he can pull off another upset. "Young, you are making a big mistake -- period," said a confident Wagner. "I'm coming for you. Your zero will be another added to my list.
