Improvements to transit included expanded service for Courtice with the loops to Orono and Wilmot Creek will to be made permanent. Major waterfront acquisitions acquisitions will happen in Bowmanville and Courtice, said the Mayor. On the receipts side the Mayor announced projections for a record year in construction construction value in Clarington valued valued at $178 million compared to last years $121 million. He said industrial construction is up 50 per cent, commercial is up 500 per cent, institutional construction is up 50 per cent and agricultural construction is up 40 per cent. The Mayor will be exercising exercising his right to sit on the Library Board where he plans to work towards establishing a new Newcastle Branch of the Clarington Library. "The current current $70 per year in rent would be better applied to a debenture and a taxpayer owned Newcastle Library," said Mutton. The Mayor's inaugural address followed the swearing in of the council which included included only one new member, Adrian Foster, Local councillor councillor Ward One. Besides approving the meeting schedule for the next three years, council also adopted a by-law with their new assignments. Ward 1 and 2 Regional Councillor Jim Schell maintains his position as chair of the Planning Department. Regional Councillor for Ward 3 and 4, Charlie Trim also returns to his previous asignment, chair of he Operations Department. Local Councillor Ward 2, Don MacArthur maintains his former former position as Chair of the Engineering Services Department. The 5th Annual Farmers' Christmas Parade of Lights begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday, December 3rd on Old Scugog Road north of Enniskillen. From Enniskillen, Enniskillen, the parade, consisting of at least 15 floats, winds east along the 8th Conession to Haydon, down Middle Road to the 7th Concession and east to Tyrone where the farmers gather for a pot luck dinner. Murray Burgess of Hampton putting the final touches on a float he and several of his colleagues have constructed for this year's Farmers' Christmas Parade of Lights taking place Wednesday evening.
