1,2003 - 6 P WbtksiMm- ' m flT.Ml 3# mm m Orono Minor Tykes Win 'A' Championship The Orono Tri-Arch Education Minor Tykes ended their season in great fashion, winning their last playoff game 5-2 against OPG giving them the 'A' Championship. It was an exciting game with the scoring being spread out. Ben deBoer and Jacob Diamond each had one goal and one assist. Single markers went to Connor Whitley, Owen King and Ryan Armstrong. Kale Stephens had the other assist. The defense was strong, led by Brett Otterbein who played well making some great saves. Mitchell Trachsler played extremely well shadowing the sniper of OPG, holding him to only one goal. The rest of the team who all contributed to the big win were Chris Third, Tate Simpson, Trevor Greenwood, Lucas Crosby and Daniel Benedict. Special thanks to all the coaches, parents, grandparents and friends who supported the team and helped them have such a great season. Cruising the Islands was the title of Saturday's program and included plenty of upbeat, summertime summertime hits such as Walkin' on Sunshine, Surfin' USA and Theme from Hawaii Five-O. The entertainment featured over twenty group numbers as well as several separate solos, pairs and trio numbers. Among the local solo talents were Whitney Greentree, Christine Kadykalo, Meagan Johnson (CanSkater of the Year), Kelly Ann Moore and Kaiti Colville. There were also appearances by the Blackstock Synchronized Skating Team and Stars on Ice. The Orono Arena wàs filled for both performances on Saturday. The evening show featured a special appearance by the Orono Leaf Midget "D" OMHA champs. The Spirit of Skating Award went this year to Megan Ames and Sarah Pogue.
