Game one was played at home on Friday January 24. Crashley, in net, led the team to a 7-0 romp over the Flyers. Orono had a very successful tourney but lost the championship championship game. The "Cafe Crew" were playing playing in a higher division, against stiff competition and played in five tough matches. Our boys managed three wins, one tie and the loss in the final. On Friday, the Country Cafe Atoms played an afternoon game against the Douro Dukes and both teams skated to a 3-3 draw. This game was very entertaining. entertaining. Scoring for Orono were Chris Lunn, Sean Bargent and Eddy Meester. On Saturday, they took a run at Wasaga Beach and dominated dominated the game from start to finish. finish. The game had plenty on the line of course, but the biggest thing was a chance to play at The Memorial Centre, home of the Peterborough Petes, in the championship game. After a short break, the boys were off again to play another Novices lead Woodville in series Orono Major Plumbing Novices are up 2 games to 0 in a best of five playoff series against Woodville. These teams are very evenly matched and so far the difference has been the goaltending. Orono won the first game in Woodville - a 4-3 nailbiter that went into overtime. With the score tied 1-1, Orono's Matt Verkuyl scored, unassisted. Then John Austin got the game winner when he went to the net and banged in a Tyson Robinson rebound. Woodville then made it 3-2. Orono IGA shattered by Akers Auto Glass Orono IGA Peewee home ice spectators saw the team meet Akers Auto Glass of Bowmanville on Sunday, January 19.
