6 - Orono Weekly Times Wednesday. February 16, 2005 Cafe atom reps whip the Hurricanes Allin's Orchard Midget Rep's fourth game of the series was played in Newcastle on Wednesday February 9. Allin's started the scoring off with an awesome goal by Steve Hicks assisted by Mark Spiers up from Greg Howe. Newcastle then netted a goal in the first period to tie the game. In the second, Orono netted netted another goal. Matt Moffat scored, assisted by Devon Sutton up from Brent Vanstone. Orono's Doug Garlick slammed the next two goals in for Orono in the third period. The first goal was assisted by Evan Moore up from Dan Reilly. Newcastle managed to slip one by Orono's netminder in the third. Final score 4-2 for Orono. Troy Webster played an extraordinary game in net. Game five was played on Sunday February 13. Allin's put the first point on the board. Doug Garick netted the puck, assisted by Kyle Balson. Newcastle managed a goal on their own and with one minute left, Garlick came back with a great goal, unassisted. Newcastle scored one in the second period and Orono slammed three more in the third period. Steve Hicks put the next two in, both assisted by Spiers. The next point went to Garlick for the hat trick. Final game score was .5-2 for Orono. In a show of support, sponsors Kathleen and Paul Allin were in attendance for the game. This ends this series with Orono moving on to the next round. Late in the second period Polymer's Mitchell Jackson scored twice to erase a 2-1 Master lead and put Polymer up by a goal. Early in the third Orono net minder Evan Rosseau and the defense were put to the test while killing off a pair of minor penalties, midway through the period. Jacob Dolley potted an insurance goal making it a 4 to 2 lead. Cavan Willsie had put Polymer on the scoreboard in the first period with assist in the* game going to Tyler Balson, Jackson, Cameron Lewis and Dolley with a pair. Polymer Extrusion team now travels to Newcastle on Thursday night to take on the Stars. ' H.M. Deboo notches hat trick The Orono Village Bakeshop went undefeated this week. The team came away with two wins and one tie. Shane Winters was strong in net when called upon. Tuesday February 8, Orono faced Newcastle #1, coming away with a 3-3 tie. Adam Wood opened the scoring scoring unassisted. Devon Robinson scored a pair with assists going to Dan Reilly, Kevin Burke, Adam Wood and Mike Howe. On Thursday, February 10, Orono defeated Wallace Auto 3-0. Devon Robinson opened the scoring assisted by Kevin Burke. Mike Howe notched the next two, assisted by Deboo (2) and Garrett Wood. February 13, Orono faced off against OPG, skating to a 5-2 win. Doug Deboo scored a hat trick. Garrett MacDonald and Adam Wood one apiece. Assists went to | Andrew Fudge, Garrett MacDonald (2), Adam Wood, Josh Flynn, Doiig Deboo and Brien Konopka. Solid hockey by Dan Reilly, Heather Maitland, Dan Hodgeson", Kyle Whitehead, and Andrew Kirkbride contributed to the win. Playing to a packed crowd in Orono Friday, night* the Orono Country Cafe atom reps wrapped up their best 3 of 5 series against the Woodville Hurricanes with a 5-3 win. In the series, Orono won the first 2 games 5-1 and then 2-0, earning goalie Ben Hinchey the shutout. Woodville then beat Orono 3-1 and tied them 2-2. Evan Rosseau was solid in net for a game.
