6 - Orono Weekly Times Wednesday. January 19, 2005 Stutt's stellar performce The Stutt's Pharmacy Novice Leafs entertained the audience once again with a 4- 3 win against Bowmanville #6. Both teams were evenly matched. The defensive lines of Daniel Owens, Jacob Stere, Kale Stephens and Jack Kingston kept the opposing team at bay for most of the game. The first period ended in a tie, with one goal scored by Jacob Diamond. Lucas Crosby, Austin Cole, Elizabeth Jackson, Tyler Trimble, Jimmy Chaplow and Glenn Acorn displayed a very solid offence, with several passes to the front of the net and many shots on goal. The second period gave Orono a 3-1 lead with both goals scored by Cameron Reilly. The third period kept us on the edge of our seats when Bowmanville scored two goals towards the end of the game to tie it up. Orono played a strong, steady style of hockey to earn a 3-1 victory. Brandon Mathwich opened the scoring unassist- ed. Singles came from Daniel Stavrakos and Theo Devries, both unassisted. Robert Brosseau allowed only one goal as he turned in a great performance. On January 10th Orono travelled to Courtice to play Hanc's Restaurant Peewees. It was a very exciting game in which Hanc's took a 2-0 lead but Orono tightened things up and went on to win, 6-3. Brandon Lane came away with three goals in the game. Brandon Mathwich scored twice with a single to Andrew Goldin. Assists went to Lane, Will Kirby, and Theo Devries. Goaltender Robert Brosseau played his usual solid style and turned away many of the oppositions shots. On Monday January 10th Allin's played their last game of the season in Bobcaygeon. Orono walked away with a 3- 0 win over Bobcaygeon. Orono's Dan Reilly put two points on the board in the first period, both assisted by Josh Moffat with the first up from Devon Sutton. The third point was scored by Matt Moffat, assisted by Sutton. This goal was scored in the third with only four and a half minutes left on the clock. Net duties went to Troy Webster, who had another shut out. This ends the regular season for Allin's. The Orono squad is first place over all giving them a bye for the first game of the playoff round.
