Skating skills have improved greatly with puck control and teamwork. Practices are almost as much fun as games, with learning new skills and freedom on the ice. It won't be too long before the team gets that first win as they continue to get more shots on net. Goalie Theren Cruickshank has seen a lot of action in this his first year between the pipes, and is doing an incredible job. (19 wins, 0 losses, 1 tie). The Leafs hosted Ops on Friday in Orono and skated to a 12-1 win. Sean Bargent led the Orono attack with three goals, while Carson Quin and Chris Lunn each netted netted two. Spencer Cole, Adam Duke, Stosh Fabricius, Jesse Desourdy got a goal each with Tyler Middleton scoring his first of the year. Tyler Webster and Jeremy Moore were also very strong, contributing three assists each. On Saturday, the boys travelled travelled to Haliburton for a very much anticipated match, with the Storm. The fans were not disappointed as this was quite an intense affair. Down one nothing after two periods, the Leafs got it going in the third with three straight goals. Haliburton scored with 10 seconds seconds left to make it close. The Cafe Crew finished them off and skated to a 3-2 win. Spencer Cole, Greg St. James, and Eddy Meester scored for Orono while the goaltending duo of Ryan Brandt and Patrick Rempel made some key saves down the stretch. Next action sees the Leafs host Millbrook on Friday at 8:00 p.m. The boys will then travel to Fenelon Falls for a game Saturday.
