Principal Lisa Dunn made up a song for Hrelijac that the whole school sang, to the tune of "Bye Bye Love." "Ms. Hreljac always says, 'bye, bye'," said Dunn, in the morning assembly. "Everyone put your hand up and say 'bye, bye'." Hrelijac was put on 'the seat of honour', a wooden school chair, in front of the gym. The students sat in front of her, while the kids from grade 6 (her first class at Kirby) came up around her and sang: "Bye, bye Beth, Bye, bye Ms. Hreljac, Hello island life, I think we're gonna cry, Bye, bye our friend, good-bye." The verses in the song were hilarious, made especially especially for Hrelijac who is known for her kind heart and quick pace.
