Petititon to keep dirt bike track open It was standing room only at a-re- cent Hamilton Township council meeting when supporters of a dirt bike track were out in force to keep the track open and armed with a petition of 700 names to have council do so. Three residents had formerly asked that the track be closed. The dirt track operates dosed circuit circuit bike racing near Cold Springs in the township. Still committed to a movie theatre Rod Stewart of Port Hope owners of the Capital Theatre building states he is still committed to re-opening the building as a movie theatre but that no one should hold their breath for this to happen. Meet with province for more road money The public works committee of Northumberland County met recently with provincial members, calling for more funding for road construction and repairs. Dr. Jean Gray retires from local Health Unit Dr. Jean Oay will retire from her position as 'Medical Officer of Health for Durham Region at the end of the month. Attending her last council meeting last week council, through a motion by Diane Hamre, chairman chairman of health and social services, extended a vote of appreciation to the retiring Doctor. ■' A reception will be held latter this month. . No replacement for Gray has been hired as yet. Counc. Hamre said medical officers of health are in short supply in the province.
