6-()rono Weekly limes, Wednesday, July 19, 1989 Newtonville Alive ■ by Peggy Mullan Newcastle Golf Course tournament results June 10, 1989 - Mason's - 202 Golfers; 12 of 15 Lodges were Probably the most-asked question question ever put to me is, "How do you think of something to write about in Newtonville every single week?" Well, at times, it is not easy. Other times, depending on what's happening that I've heard about, what is on my mind or particularly irritating me, the words can't come fast enough. With the summer of '89 in full swing, our flower and vegetable gardens doing peachy, and the kids keeping themselves surprisingly busy, I find myself a tad subdued and perhaps even a little laid back. Thus...Newtonville Alive this week is short and sweet, with extended extended wishes to everybody for a continued wonderful, enjoyable summer. We are almost at the midpoint midpoint I guess. The stores have already begun displaying fall clothes and marking down prices on patio furniture and all that goes with fun in the sun. Believe it or not! Christmas shopping shopping has been quite a popular pastime for more people than you might think, as I hear it. The chores and jobs we planned to get done in the good weather, the day trips to take, friends to finally get together with and socialize all at times can seem overwhelming. Maybe we should all take the time to really smell the roses. This is a gorgeous summer; one that we should enjoy to the utmost - with exactly, and whatever gives us the most pleasure. The work will be there - it all doesn't have to be done at once. These three or four months of Mother Nature's best is ours for the asking... Thank you to those special folks about town who always have a kindly wave, a supportive word or a neat "Little Scoop" to give me...y'all make it worthwhile! I'd like to share this story with you I came across awhile back, published years ago... "If I Had My Life to Live Over" . I'd dare to make more mistakes next time. I'd relax, I would limber up. I would be sillier than I have been this trip. I would take fewer things seriously. I would take more chances. I would climb more mountains mountains and swim more rivers. I would eat more ice cream and less beans. I would perhaps have more actual troubles, but I'd have fewer imaginary imaginary ones. You see, I'm one of those people who live sensibly and Sanely hour after hour, day after day, Oh, I've had my moments, and if I had it to do over again, I'd have more of ' them. In fact, I'd try to have nothing else. Just moments, one ' after another, instead of living so many years ahead of each day. I've been one of those persons who never goes anywhere without a thermometer, thermometer, a hot water bottle, a raincoat raincoat and a parhehute. If I had to do it again, I wpuld travel lighter than I have. • If I had my life to live over, I would start barefoot earlier in the spring and stay that way later in the fall. I would go to more dances. I would ride more merry-go-rounds. I would pick more daisies... written by Nadine Stair 85 years old, Louisville, Kentucky Little Scoops... - Okay again... where is our cenotaph Canada flag gone?
