This tested Adversity builds character! This weekend the team developed character. On Friday, we invited Millbrook to Orono for an exhibition exhibition game. Coach Burnham hoped Captain Video (John Withêridge) recording of the game might help our performance. True to form Millbrook showed us some more tricks. They shut us out three zip. With our newfound character brimming from our equipment bags we travelled to Millbrook for our second tournament in as many weekends. Our first opponent was from Port Hope. Although we tried hard wè again lost 3 ~ 0. Oh Boy! More character developed. The team, quite happy to be on the B side, felt that they had a chance of winning the consolation prize. In the first game, we met another house league team from Peterborough, St. Anne's. This time we got to use some of our character we had been collecting. St. Anne's jumped to a three - zip the skills of all and as the score shows it could riot have been better. Also the experience they received will come in handy in future games and life showing they can adapt to different situations when necessary, The scoring was provided by Adam VanDam with 2 goals, Mike Hutton Jr. with 1 goal and Amy McAllister with 1 goal and an assist. The other players who shone were Murphy Irvine, Irvine, Jeremy Pare, Steven Foster, Andrew Reid and Steve Gates. Thanks for the strong effort and continual success in the future. lead but this time we came back. First Scott MacDonald scored after Simon Weagant worked hard to free the puck and then sent Scott away fpr a clear shot. Then Jonathan Noble did some nifty blue line work to set up Devon Witheridge for his first marker of the year. At the beginning of the third period the action was fast and furious, Orono was passing very well and protecting goalie Jeff Parry, They felt one more goal would be all that was needed. But it was St, Anne's that scored. Orono didn't give up Jonathan Nobel collected collected his second assist as he set up Scott MacDonald for his second dinger. But there were only 20 seconds left so we collected opr pins and headed home. Sommer West had to carry the new hockey stick covered with looney dollars home, Tuesday night the pucksters head tp Omemee for the first round of the Ontario finals in the D, division. Good Luck Agents.. ; ; action On January 5th our guys hosted Baltimore in an exhibition game. The visiting team came out flying and led 2 to 0 by the third period. That lead was short lived however, as defenseman Mike Landers went to work arid scored 2 back to back goals to tie the game! Mike's first goal was scored unassisted at the 3:29 mark. His second goal was also unassisted at f L45. With less than a minute remaining in the game, Orono pressed to get the go ahead goal. The "J" line came close as Jamic ( Sheller, Jason Lawrence, and Jeff Goodmurphy "Buzzed" around the Baltimore net, but couldn't find the mark. The game ended 2 to 2. The 'Daryl Reid* line With David Crozier arid Marc David also had several good scoring chances. The checking line consisting consisting of Jeff Hughes, Owen Taylor and Brian Haines played well. The remaining defensive core of Scott RUnsberry, Paul Woods, Aaron Staples and Henry Kaldeway provided their goaltenders, Chad Maartense and Clayton Rendell with ample protection when heeded. heeded. January 8th the boys travelled to Manvers for another exhibition- game. This was a close checking affair affair with neither mounting much of an offensive threat, due in part to excellent goaltending at both ends of the rink. The home team finally got on the boajd at 6:39- of the 3rd period. Orono pulled their goaltender for a sixth attacker in the last minute of the game and it paid off as Mike Landers found the mark with just 18 seconds remaining remaining to salvage a 1 -1 tie.
