Around Hitch Your Sleigh To A Star I am informed that 1 was so late with my column this week that it is to be relegated to the Want or Coming Event section of this issue. There may be an omen here but in any case it just may be appropriate for this particular column. Its that time of year again and no doubt a lot of husbands find themselves in the quandary that just happens happens to be mine every Christmas time. I only have to get one gift but it seems to get harder and harder as time passes by. You would not expect expect this should be the case for as the years pass surely one should know the likes and dislikes of their spouse. I rather suspect they do make it more difficult by keeping mum the closer it • gets to St. Nicks day. At least thats the way it appears from my corner. I run down the possible line of gifts to no aVail. Panty, hose persist in running, footwear pinches and blouses sag or stretch in the Wrong places. Its not that I don't give this important matter somé thought for I would so like to be original and thought provoking provoking in my choice of gift for my wife. Unsuspectingly Mary Jane in the front office sparked my Tennant Fuelers edge Ops 6 to 5 On Sunday afternoon the Fuelers visited Ops Township and came away with a 6-5 win. The victory did not , copie easily though as Ops after a slow start this season are becoming a contender. Orono opened the scoring at the 3.55 mark of the first period when Dustin Reid rifled rifled a high shot to the stick side This, goal as a result of, pin-point passing between Jeff Hartwig and Dustin Reid. Scott McAllister opened the second period when he blasted home Cameron Ester's rebound to make the score 2-0 Orono. It looked as if they were in for an easy win till suddenly Ops started fighting back and tied the game with two goals of their own. " At the 8.26 mark Brent Gates put the Fuelers ahead when he let loose a high shot which hand-cuffed the Ops goalie. Not to be denied Ops retaliated- just 28 seconds later to even the count at 3 apiece» The tie was short-lived though when David Sheridan scored two quick goals to close the second period at 5-3 for Orono. Daves first goal came when Cameron Esler gave him a break-away pass and Dave finished it off by decking the goalie and slipping it under his pad. One minute and eight' seconds later Scott McAllister stole the puck behind the net and relayed a pass to Dave who beat the goalie with a quick wrist shot. Kevin Roberts upped the score to 6-3 when he fired a hard slap shot after he received received a nice pass from Dustin Reid. Again the Fuelers looked like they were in control until the pesky Ops team scored two goaB near the end of the period. 1 i Needless'to say Orono held on to darn the victory and gain a new "respect for the Ops team. Bradley Mennis played his best game of the year. Orono Weekly Times, Wednesday, December 21, 1983-15 of the western hemisphere with your star marked and informed informed when it is visable along with the registration. The whole procedure has been advertised on CKFM I have been advised and it was through this channel I made contact. ' Now 1 an) satisfied with Christmas and have something to look up to for the rest of time\ You should understand that if you see Donna and I parked out in the dead of night in the hills of the former Township \of Carke, "We are looking for Donna's star." brain into orbit last) week . when she commented that her mother-in-law Was cofisider- ing having a star named for her husband who dabbles in astronomy. That sounded rather orginal and after all it would not develop runs, nor would it pinch or sag. And if I go back a number of years Donna Donna did show some interest in the stars above following a field trip we attended at the Ganaraska Forest Centre. Further we can consider there is no upkeep or mairi- tainance and what could be" more brilliant, sparkling and twinkling than a star. Not even a diamond could reach its brilliance. I further considered the fact that when I get old and grey and retire we could look at birds during the day and study Donna's star at night. There need never be boredom in the family. I was sold on the idea and after all who else in-Orono would have a star named after them. No one that I know of anyways but I would like to get in on the ground floor 50 I could get a star that is f close enbugh at least at certain certain times in the year that one could see it with the naked - eye.. . The procedure is very simple. simple. Contact International Stgr Registry giving birth date and name to be registeled to the star and part with $35.00.
