Public Works department.and department.and the council of the Town of Newcastle. Â reduction from the present present fifty kilometers within the subdivision was considered considered unreasonable as called for by a petition from the residents. Council also support the view that there was no indication at this time that heavy commercial vehicles were causing a deterioration to,the conditions of the roads nor were they about to implement a by-law to prohibit prohibit heavy trucks from the subject area. Council is asking the Regional Regional Police to implement effective enforcement of the existing by-law. Council is also to review the proposed Noise By-law, now under consideration in light of the concerns expressed by the petitioners. Ministry wants answer from Town The Ministry of Government Government Services in a letter dated January 25th, 1980 state they are most anxious to receive the,Town's proposal now overdue pertaining to purchase all or part of the Pine Ridge School property in Bowmanville. The letter points out that the Ministry first requested the Town to indicate their interest in the property in April of 1979 and were now asking that they declare their interest. Counc. Hobbs pointed out that council was to meet with the Minister on February 28th. He also said that a former meeting with the Minister had been postponed. On a motion of Hobbs and Prout the Ministry is to be informed that the Town's proposal is not overdue and that they are to meet with the , Minister on February 28th to discuss the purchase of the school. It would appear to this point that the Town does not have a firm proposal for the school property. Council members have said a lot depends on what price the Ministry will be asking for purchase. Council supports postmasters 1 stand The Town of Newcastle council on Monday gave their support to the Ontario Branch of the Canadian Postmasters and Assistants Association who are endeavouring to thwart a plan to close all small community post offices on Saturday. Several people were deferred deferred due to the many viral infections which are so prevalent prevalent causing colds and flu symptoms. Thanks to all who came to support the clinic and help to build up the blood supply. We hope to see you again on May 7, 1980. Many volunteers helped with registration, posters, coffee room, rest bed area and driving. Also, thanks to the men who-helped to unload and reload the truck.
