SPIE New Orono Enterprise Highway 115 plans now modified Vander Stoop's Floral and Greenery officially opens in Orono this Thursday in the ■ store formerly occupied by Gerri's Flower and Gifts. The new enterprise in Orono's business section carries a complete line of flowering plants, greenery and gifts. Vander Stoops also provide floral arrangements for all occasions, Mr. Vander Stoop operates a similar store in Port Hope and as well a greenhouse operation midway between Newcastle and Newtonville on Highway No. 2. PRESENTED WITH SERVICE AWARD Arnold Guthrie, an employee of the Community Telephone Company of Ontario Limited was honoured at' a special dinner last week for his five years of service with the company. Fifteen other employees received Service Awards for ten and fifteen years of service to the company. CROSS COUNTRY SKI CLINIC SATURDAY The Ganaraska Conservation staff at the Forest Centre ar® holding a Cross Country Ski Clinic at the Centre this Saturday commencing at 1:00 p.m. The clinic is free of charge and will include information as to t the type of equipment to purchase for individual needs, the technics of waxing and maintenance and also on display will be various lines of equipment and clothing! Professional ski instructors will also be present and coffee will be served at the conclusion of the clinic. Lois Adams and Bonnie Cowle along with Patrick , Mothersill of Bowmanville have embarked on a project t to publish a picture history of the Town of Newcastle. The title of the publication is to be called "Picture the way we were". According to Adams and Cowle the book is to be published within a year. The Times was told last week that the book is a private venture and will contain some 400 to 500 pages of pictures of the area. They expect to have some 2000 pictures and captions in the book when completed. At least 32 pages of old pictures of buildings in the Village of Orono will be included in the publication and the two ladies last week had many interesting pic-' tures of .this area already assembled relating to the past. They would welcome more pictures of the area on a loan basis. It would appear that the book will have a lot of potential - and prove most interesting. • .
