The Katemavik program is operated by the federal government government and these young people belong to the group for a period of nine months. During the past three months they have ben working for the Otonabee Conservation Authority Authority and have been liviqg in a large house at Young's Point. During their stay with the Otonabee they have been developing snowmobile and cross country ski trails, tree planting, building bridges and other works related to the Conservation program: Three of the members were with the Ganaraska for a two week period assisting with the preparation of jhe log cabin program. For their work they are paid $1.00 a day with free board which they look after themselves. If they stay with the program for a period of nine months they are pâid $1,000.00. This group have being at Young's Point and now leaVe for a three month stint at the Magellan Islands and then to British Columbia for a further three months working the lumber industry, at Prince George. On asking the teenagers how they liked the program they all said in a chorus, "terrific".
