Therç is still time to make it to the Orono Park tonight to enjoy the annual beef barbecue being sponsored by the Orono Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Newcastle. Preparations were completed last week at an executive meeting of the cue Chamber and a crew will be working all day today to promote the Town's greatest outdoor barbecue. Hundreds of pounds of prime beef will, be on the spit and turned to a 'T'. This accompanied with baked potatoes/ salad, relishes, fresh rolls and steaming western baked beans accompanied with donuts and coffee will provide a feast fit for a king. And of course one can enjoy the beautiful setting of the Orono Park and the social atmosphere which has always existed at this annual event. These improvements include tâking out a partition to make their meeting room larger with a fresh coat of paint and some panelling. MOVES TO DARLINGTON Miss Sue Stickley who has been the community relations officer at the Wesleyville Generating Station has been moved to the Darlington Generating Station. Since Wesleyville has been mothballed for somé time personnel at' the station have been relocated as the project is being closed out. WILL EMPLOY 350 IN CONSTRUCTION The construction of the $100 million refinery for Eldorado Nuclear will employ some 350 people at peak. The plant is expected to be operational in 1982 with a permanent staff of two hundred. OPTIMISTIC OVER SPLASH PROJECT Im speaking with Bob Stevens of Bowmanville last week he stated that a final decision on the fate of the indoor pool and squash courts will be made at a meeting to be held on August 28th. He said at the present time-he was optimistic that the project would move ahead. The group is now determining the financial feasibility of raising some $500,000 *" nigh public donations. ' Newcastle, Bowmanville and Orono Fire Departments were called oüt early Sunday morning to a house fire at Port GraAby. Although thé cause is still under investigation it is thought that a fire in the fireplace might have started the blaze. Mr. R. Nemis, who was a tenant in the house, was awakened by smoke and jumped out of a second storey . window after attempts to get down the stairwell failed, Mr. Nemis was not seriously •injured.
